CS 1.6 Windows Server Installation Tutorial (STEAM)

Download: HldsUpdateTool

For this tutorial i have chosen to install in partition C:, folder HLDSteam
Create the folder HLDSteam on partition C: and then install Hldsupdatetool in it.

Go to Start->Run->cmd
Write the following in command prompt:

cd c:\HLDSteam

then hldsupdatetool -command update -game cstrike -dir c:\steamhlds

Attention: The time needed to complete this process varies depending on your external connection.
After it’s finished you should receive the following message:

Installing and configuring ADMINMOD

Download: Adminmod + Metamod

Extract the archive anywhere, preferably on your Desktop, enter the newly created folder (usually it’s called Adminmod) and double-click on install_admin.vbs -> press OK ->select the destination C:\HLDS ->pick for Counter-Strike mod (first) -> press OK

Config Adminmod:

-Go to C:\HLDS\cstrike\addons\adminmod\config, open adminmod.cfg (with wordpad/notepad) -For every line there is an explanation in english:

admin_bot_protection – If it’s set to 0 and you are running a server with bots, this cvar enables the admins to kick, ban etc the bots.
admin_connect_msg – This is the message that appears in the middle of the player’s screen once he’s connected.
admin_cs_restrict – Set it preferably to 0 to enable weapon restriction in the game.
admin_debug – Leave it 0
admin_fun_mode – Preferably, leave it 0. This cvar makes the players glow in a certain color (glow blue).
admin_fx – Set it to 1. Special effects.
admin_gag_name – 0 or 1 depending on your preference.
admin_gag_sayteam – the same.
admin_highlander – It should be left as 0. If you set it to 1, only one admin, the highest, will have access to commands. For example if there are 3 admins on the server, the highest remains, and the other 2 become simple slots.
admin_ignore_immunity – Depends on your tastes. If it’s set to 1, the admins, moderators and other players with immunity can kick/ban/slay each other.
admin_repeat_msg – A message that appears written in green in the middle of the screen once every few minutes.
admin_quiet – If you write 0, the commands given by an admin appear along with his name. If you write 1, the commands will appear but instead of the admin’s name will appear only “Admin” and if you write 2 the commands won’t appear at all.
allow_client_exec – Definitely 1! With this we can force the players to execute any command (quit etc)
password_field – Probably the most important cvar. The admins will have to type what you write here into the console before connecting to your server. For example if you put _password, the admin X with the password x789 will have to type into the console name X and then setinfo _parola X789 before connecting to your server.
reserve_slots – This allows the admins and reserved slots to connect when the server is full.
reserve_type – Leave it 0. It’s best. If you’re curious regarding what it does, read the adminmod manual.

Modify the rest of the lines only if you know what you’re doing.

How to Add and delete Admins:

– Open users.ini, an admin must be written under the following form name:password:access
example: X:my_password:131071
-the code 131071 is the maximum access an admin can have on the server, to calculate the access code go here: click these select what commands you want every class of admins to have. ATTENTION:
If you want to modify extra settings add them in server.cfg

Activating VAC2: -Go to C:\HLDSteam\, there you will find the file hlds.exe (which we use to start the server).
-right-click on it -> create shortcut . A shortcut to hlds.exe will appear.
-right-click on it -> Properties and then a window will appear.
-Search in this window Target:”C:\HLDSteam\hlds.exe” and add this line: “C:\hldsteam\hlds.exe” -console -game cstrike -port 27015 -autoupdate +secure +sport 27014 +ip 192.168.1.0 +maxplayers 20 +map de_dust2

instead of 192.168.1.0 put the server’s IP
